Piotr Nardelli and the IXth Symphony
Produced for the last time in 1964, this masterpiece of Maurice Béjart, that gathers almost 200 artists on the stage, will be the climax of the 2014-2015 season. In november 2014, the Béjart Ballet Lausanne, together with the Tokyo Ballet and the Philarmonic Orchestra of Israël, directed by Zubin Mehta, will perform in Tokyo and thus bring this remarkable ballet back to life… 50 years after its Premiere.
To rebuild this ballet, the BBL can rely on Piotr Nardelli’s know-how and experience, as a former dancer and good friend of the company. He came in May for two weeks and started to teach this majestic choreography. Mika Yoshioka, soloist from the Tokyo Ballet, also came to Lausanne for the IXth Symphony’s rehearsals in order to work several key pas de deux.
Piotr Nardelli will come back in Lausanne in August to complete the teaching and will afterwards go to Japan to work the choreography directly with the Tokyo Ballet.
