Born in 1975 in Havana (Cuba), Catherine Zuasnabar studied gymnastics until she joined the Ballet Elementary School in 1984. Five years later she joins the National Ballet School of Cuba while in the same year being bronze medalist at the “Vigiale Danse” Competition. At 17 years old she joins the National Ballet of Cuba where she danced Don Quijote’s Mercedes, Swanlake’s Odette/Odileand Gisèle’s Mirtha, to name a few.

While touring Europe in 1997, Catherine joins the Béjart Ballet Lausanne.

As a dancer, she interprets many of Maurice Béjart’s major choreographies, including Ballet for Life, MutationX, Nutcracker, Elton Berg, Lumière, L’amour - La danse, La vie du danseur raconté par Zig et Puce, Le tour du monde en 80 minutes. As a soloist she takes the lead role in Maurice Béjart’s great ballets such as Magic Flute, Firebird, Rite of the Spring, Teck, Bhakti III and Serait-ce la Mort?. She also danced la Mélodie in the 2004 Bolero. In 2008, she performs in Aria, choreographed by Gil Roman.
