{"id":22181,"date":"2019-11-11T09:53:09","date_gmt":"2019-11-11T08:53:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bejart.ch\/?p=22181"},"modified":"2020-02-21T13:50:27","modified_gmt":"2020-02-21T12:50:27","slug":"the-ninth-symphony-at-lausanne-malley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bejart.ch\/en\/the-ninth-symphony-at-lausanne-malley\/","title":{"rendered":"The Ninth Symphony at Lausanne-Malley"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>More than 200 artists will come together with the B\u00e9jart Ballet Lausanne to present Beethoven&#8217;s Ninth Symphony, choreographed by Maurice B\u00e9jart, at the Vaudoise Arena in Lausanne-Malley, from June 12 to 17, 2020.<\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Ninth Symphony <em>is not only a ballet but a profound human involvement in a work that belongs to all humanity and that is not just performed and sung here, but danced.&#8221;<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bejart.ch\/en\/company\/maurice-bejart\/\">Maurice B\u00e9jart<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Five years after the triumphant performances of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bejart.ch\/en\/ballet\/ixe-symphonie\/\"><em>The Ninth Symphony<\/em> <\/a>in Lausanne, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bejart.ch\/en\/company\/gil-roman\/\">Gil Roman<\/a>, the Artistic Director of B\u00e9jart Ballet, revisits the choreographer&#8217;s manifesto composed on Beethoven&#8217;s masterpiece, whose 250th birth anniversary will be celebrated: from June 12 to 17, 2020, two hundred and fifty artists from all over the world will present <em>The Ninth Symphony<\/em> at the <a href=\"https:\/\/vaudoisearena.ch\/\">Vaudoise Arena<\/a> (Lausanne-Malley).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"B\u00e9jart Ballet Lausanne - La IXe Symphonie\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bhhl0WW0Buc\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Joining 40 dancers from the B\u00e9jart Ballet Lausanne, <a href=\"https:\/\/thetokyoballet.com\/en\/\">the Tokyo Ballet<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sinfonietta.ch\/\">Lausanne Sinfonietta<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpal.ch\/\">Pro Arte Choir of Lausanne<\/a>, under the direction of David Reiland, will perform this artistic manifesto for a united humanity. Culminating with Schiller&#8217;s <em>Ode to Joy,<\/em> it strengthens the bond between peoples to defend them against the madness of the world.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Since its premiere at the Cirque Royal in Brussels in 1964, <em>The Ninth Symphony<\/em> has travelled the world, from the Olympic Games in Mexico City (1968) to the Verona Arena and Piazza San Marco in Venice in 1975, or from Tokyo&#8217;s NHK for the Tokyo Ballet&#8217;s 50th anniversary in 2014 to Lausanne the following year.
