 Founded in 1987 by Maurice Béjart, the Béjart Ballet Lausanne has established itself as an international reference in the world of dance and choreography. Based in Lausanne, the BBL Foundation is an autonomous organisation subsidised by the City of Lausanne and brings together a team of around 70 employees. Each year, our 40 dancers perform on the world’s most prestigious stages, contributing to the international reputation of our institution. This remarkable achievement is made possible thanks to the active involvement of dedicated technical and administrative teams.

Technical Services Manager – 100%

 

Your mission

Assuming responsibilities equivalent to those of a Technical Director, you will hold a key position at the heart of the Béjart Ballet Lausanne, supporting the Artistic Direction in the implementation of its productions.

You will oversee and coordinate all technical aspects of the Béjart Ballet Lausanne’s productions, both in Lausanne and on tour. Your expertise will ensure the quality, safety and smooth running of performances, in close collaboration with the Artistic Direction.

 

Your potential and future responsibilities

  • Lead all technical aspects of productions and touring activities, including sets, costumes, props, lighting, sound, video, special effects and stage machinery.
  • Develop and manage budgets for technical investments, equipment and consumables, in coordination with the finance department.
  • Supervise and motivate a skilled team of around ten technicians, fostering a collaborative and dynamic working environment.
  • Plan and organise technical teams, recruiting permanent and freelance staff in collaboration with Human Resources.
  • Create and maintain technical riders, inventories and stage layout plans, ensuring smooth and efficient information flow.
  • Prepare and oversee tours, taking into account logistics, liaison with host venues, and staffing and space requirements.
  • Ensure staff safety in compliance with current technical and legal regulations.
    Oversee the management of studios, workshops and storage areas.

Profil

  • Several years of experience in technical direction within the performing arts sector, particularly in lighting, sound and stage machinery, demonstrating in-depth expertise.
  • Proven management experience, with strong skills in team planning and coordination.
    Rigorous, precise and highly autonomous.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage responsibilities effectively in high-pressure environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of technical equipment and safety standards, ensuring best practices are applied at all times.
  • Proficiency in software such as Wysiwyg, DraftSight, SketchUp and GrandMA consoles, along with excellent general IT skills.
  • Professional-level English, enabling effective collaboration with international teams and partners.
  • Mobility and flexibility: willingness to travel internationally to accompany tours and projects, with frequent travel throughout the year and irregular working hours.
