Opening the evening, 7 danses grecques, set to music by Mikis Theodorakis, pays tribute to the soul of Greece. “A ballet in which Greece, according to the Greeks themselves, is all the more present because borrowings from folklore are minimal…,” Maurice Béjart once noted. Created in 1983, this work is a true gem: a highly demanding ballet requiring from its performers a perfect command of classical technique combined with a deeply solar energy.
To conclude the evening, Béjart et nous offers a dazzling journey through Maurice Béjart’s choreographic and musical repertoire. Pas de deux, solos and ensemble pieces intertwine in a sensitive and vibrant reinterpretation. Conceived by Julien Favreau, this artistic proposal invites audiences into the heart of the Master’s eclectic and abundant œuvre, as interpreted by the dancers of today’s Béjart Ballet Lausanne.
