The evening will open with Variations pour une porte et un soupir, brought to life on stage. As Maurice Béjart explains: “Seven dancers take the stage to create a ballet where the choreographer has no role. Seven dancers will improvise freely. Only a pre-established framework defines their interactions and assigns them the variations they must perform. This framework, created in an abstract manner for seven numbers, offers 49 possible combinations since each night, chance assigns different numbers to the dancers, eliminating any risk of repetition.”
The performance will continue with The Firebird, set to the music of Igor Stravinsky, and conclude with Béjart et nous—a breathtaking journey through Maurice Béjart’s danced (and musical) repertoire, blending pas de deux, solos, and recomposed ensembles. This sensitive artistic proposal by Julien Favreau offers an immersive experience at the heart of the eclectic and abundant works of the Master, performed by the dancers of his contemporary company.
