The evening will open with OSKAR, a creation by Riva&Repele. Beneath the glow of a streetlamp, in a space suspended between reality and illusion, a clown-like figure alternates between moments of light-hearted amusement and deep introspection. A portrait of a solitary soul confronting his own limitations, OSKAR explores desire and vulnerability, downfall and rebirth, and poses, behind the performer’s smile, the most difficult question of all: how well do we truly know ourselves?
The programme will continue with Mozart Tangos, choreographed by Maurice Béjart to music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Argentine tangos. Through a masterful sleight of hand, Béjart brings together two distinct works: M pour B, created for King Baudouin’s birthday in 1990, and 7 Tangos, an excerpt from Notre Faust (1975). The refined elegance of Mozart’s music and pointe work engages in dialogue with the sensual intensity of Argentine tango, creating a contrast that is as unexpected as it is captivating.
