End of the season

End of the season

Dear Friends and Partners of the Béjart Ballet Lausanne,

Our 2019-2020 season is officially coming to an end. Unfortunately, we were unable to present to the public the programs we had been preparing for a long time. The company has not stopped working since March 16, when it was forced to suspend its activities to fight the spread of COVID-19. Thanks to the commitment of my teams and the understanding of our host theatres around the world, which have been equally affected by the pandemic, all cancelled tours will be performed in the upcoming season. We received and continue to receive messages of encouragement during this challenging time. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all these supporters. Gil Roman

The 2019-2020 season is now coming to an end. The season’s schedule, which was supposed to be filled with tours in Europe and Asia, featuring rich ballet programs by Gil Roman and Maurice Béjart, was suspended when the COVID-19 pandemic reached Europe. In response to the many messages of support and encouragement addressed to the company, the BBL streamed ballets by Maurice Béjart, Gil Roman and guest choreographers, as well as documentaries for free on its website to support its community during this delicate period. More than 500,000 viewers around the world enjoyed the performances online.

The company is looking forward to returning to its studios on August 3 to prepare for the 2020-2021 season. It will definitely be a busy season packed with shows and travels.

The BBL would like to thank not only its loyal public, but also its patrons and partners, the City of Lausanne, EFG, Hirslanden Romandie, AGEFI and the Antenna Foundation – all major partners for The Ninth Symphony show in Lausanne-Malley – for their precious support during these challenging times.
