Fifteen years after its last performance at the Opéra de Vichy, the Béjart Ballet Lausanne returns to this emblematic venue, where Maurice Béjart took his first steps as a professional dancer. On 21 and 22 November 2026, the company will present an evening devoted entirely to Béjart, featuring 7 danses grecques and Béjart et nous.
On the occasion of its anniversary seasons, the Béjart Ballet Lausanne returns to the places that shaped and marked Maurice Béjart’s career. Vichy holds a special place in this story: it was here, in 1946, that the young Maurice Béjart, then just nineteen years old, made his professional debut with the Ballet de Vichy. There, he discovered the stage, company life, and the demands of a dancer’s profession. Thus began the first chapter of a journey that would profoundly shape the history of 20th century dance.
For this anniversary performance, the company brings together two works that each, in their own way, reflect the richness and vitality of Maurice Béjart’s legacy: 7 danses grecques and Béjart et nous.
Created in 1983, 7 danses grecques draws on the rhythms, gestures and traditions of Greece to create a work that is both radiant and deeply human. Here, dance rediscovers a sense of naturalness and simplicity—the expression of a people who celebrate, come together and pass on their traditions.
With Béjart et nous, Julien Favreau offers a breathtaking journey through Maurice Béjart’s danced and musical repertoire. A sensitive immersion into the heart of his eclectic and richly layered body of work.
