The Béjart Ballet Lausanne wraps up its season in style in your home
Since it launched a series of ballet films online at the beginning of the confinement on March 16, the Béjart Ballet Lausanne has been introducing a new cycle of ballet films every week. All are freely accessible on its website, bejart.ch. The films, which capture the company’s artistic work, have been viewed almost 400,000 times around the world. The dance company is unable to perform in front of the public, but it will offer a final series of films from June 4 to June 28 to conclude its season. Composed of four ballets and four documentaries, the programme is offered for free on the homepage of www.bejart.ch.
From Thursday, June 25 to Sunday, June 28, 2020, Gil Roman – I come from dance, I come from there, produced by Association Plans Fixes, interview conducted by the Swiss journalist and author Patrick Ferla and An American Swan in Paris, a documentary by Arantxa Aguirre are available for free viewing:
Produced by the Association Films Plans-Fixes, this documentary is dedicated to the 10 years of Gil Roman’s artistic direction. While interviewed by journalist and author Patrick Ferla, he goes back to his childhood memories, his first steps in dance, and when he met Maurice Béjart. He talks about his immense admiration for the work the choreographer has left behind, as well as the challenges for the preservation of such heritage, but also his vision of the company mirrored in his own choreographic creations.
An American Swan in Paris
The American dancer Kathleen Thielhelm has just been admitted to the Béjart Ballet Lausanne. Her first tour with the company gives her the chance to dance at the iconic Paris Opera House. When the premiere finally arrives, what happens is what no dancer would ever hope to experience.
The Béjart Ballet Lausanne would like to warmly thank the Maurice Béjart Foundation, the Jacques Brel Foundation, EuroArts, NHK and Eagle Vision for their help in bringing this program to you. We would also like to thank the public, our partners and patrons for their precious support.
