BBL in Athens

BBL’s 2019-2020 season kicked off in the breathtaking setting of ancient Athens. Over sixty people from the company, including 39 dancers, took over the Odeon of Herodes Atticus — an amphitheatre located at the foot of the Acropolis and built in 161 — for two performances, on September 15 and 16, 2019.

Under the open sky and in front of an audience of more than 9,000 spectators, BBL presented 7 danses grecques, which Maurice Béjart choreographed to the music of the famous Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis. This was followed by the international Premiere of Tous les hommes presque toujours s’imaginent by Gil Roman, which won the audience over. The evening program ended with the crowd’s ovation to Maurice Béjart’s Bolero.

The company will then travel to Bucharest on October 12 and 13 with Tous les hommes presque toujours s’imaginent and 7 danses grecques. The tour of Ballet for Life by Maurice Béjart’s to the music of Queen and Mozart, with costumes by Versace will stop in Tallinn (19 October), Kaunas (22 October) and finally in Paris (from 31 October to 3 November).
