Description
Béjart Ballet Lausanne December 2018 program.
In December 2018, Béjart Ballet Lausanne revived Nutcracker by Maurice Béjart at Beaulieu Theatre, Lausanne. 20 years after its creation, the ballet is danced as an homage to the great 20th century French choreographer and to the accordionist Yvette Horner who had left her mark on the BBL creator’s ballet performances in 1998 and 1999. 2018 is a year full of symbols. It celebrates both the bicentenary of the birth of Marius Petipa and the demise of Yvette Horner, who died on June 11, 2018.
From Marius Petipa’s journey to Tchaikovsky’s original score, from the rehearsals of the BBL to the portrait of the young accordionist Lisa Biard, travel through the history and revival of Nutcracker.
A Carte Blanche was given to the artist David Curchod, who, using a cutter and brush, made cut-outs inspired by the company’s rehearsals.
