The evening opens with Béjart et nous, a sensitive reinterpretation of Maurice Béjart’s repertoire conceived by Julien Favreau. Solos, pas de deux and recomposed ensembles flow seamlessly in a work that is at once rigorous and deeply moving, summoning the Master’s eclectic output to entrust it to the performers of today.
It continues with Real Love by Andonis Foniadakis, a choreographer invited by the company. Set to a soundtrack by Depeche Mode, fifteen performers inhabit a resolutely contemporary choreographic language that reinvents pointe work, combining formal power, precision and raw sensitivity.
The evening closes with the majestic Boléro, created by Maurice Béjart in 1961 to Maurice Ravel’s hypnotic score. A single soloist embodies the Melody facing the Rhythm ensemble, in an inexorable crescendo that tips into collective trance.
