It’s the end of the season!

“Happy the one who, like Ulysses, has seen a hundred landscapes…“ After travelling 370,000 km on tour, the Béjart Ballet Lausanne is taking a summer break. With 30 shows in Switzerland and 25 around the world, Gil Roman‘s company can look forward to a vacation…

There has been no shortage of work. From September 2021 to the last date of the summer tour, which began in Ljubljana on July 6 and ended in Genoa thirteen days later, the Artistic Director led 16 ballets, including two contemporary pieces: the first ballet was a personal creation (Alors on danse… !), the second one was created by choreographer Joost Vrouenraets (Bye bye baby blackbird). Both ballets had their world premiere at the Opéra de Lausanne last February in front of an enthusiastic audience. The BBL was also able to meet its public during 18 performances given in live conditions at “Plan_B“, its intimate 100-seat dance studio.

The time has come to store away the 1’367 costumes worn by our 40 dancers over the past months, as well as the 1’836 point shoes. We would like to thank our national partner EFG, who supports our dreams and helps them to come true in Switzerland. We would also like to thank the 40’000 spectators who trusted us. On behalf of Gil Roman and the dancers, the Béjart Ballet Lausanne wishes you a wonderful summer and looks forward to seeing you in Turin on September 14, in Delémont on October 5, in Seville on October 14, in Rimini on October 22, in Romont on October 29, in Morges on November 18, and of course in Lausanne for the end of the year celebrations: the company will be back at the Beaulieu Theater on December 16 after being closed for three years. They will perform Wien Wien, nur du Allein by Maurice Béjart. This ballet, created in 1982 in Brussels, will be danced for the first time in its complete version.
